Happy birthday Stand Tall
Two years ago my husband planted an apple tree in our garden as a gift for our fifth wedding anniversary, for which the traditional present is made of wood. I know, very lovely!
It was just as the country was coming out of Covid (for the first time!) and like many others, I had become profoundly aware of how short life can be, questioning what I wanted to accomplish over the years ahead. A seed of an idea started to grow that month. One day, I thought, I’d like to use the skills I’ve built during my career in communications to help bring other businesses to life on more of a freelance basis. I secretly scribbled in my notebook of scribbles, Stand Tall PR.
Two years on, and despite some cold winters, thirsty summers and having been nibbled on by a family of deer on several occasions, my little apple tree has grown. In fact, it’s just overtaken my height, which is some achievement as a lady proudly standing at six feet tall!
And as the tree has grown, so has my little nugget of an idea for Stand Tall PR. I’ve taken small steps to build a real business that I’m launching today. On this journey, I’ve sat in front of the apple tree enjoying my morning coffee. And this spring I’ve watched it develop little buds, which blossomed into vibrant flowers and are now transforming into my little tree’s first fruit.
Stand Tall PR is officially out in the world and I’m delighted to be on the lookout for a small number of clients. Please follow along on Instagram and share the love as I spread the word. I’m so grateful to all the people who have been so generous with their wisdom. And I hope in a year’s time, I’ll be whipping up apple crumble from an even taller tree!
